
1st Elementary (3P)from 6 to 7 years old
The 1st Elementary class represents a crucial step in the educational journey of young students.
This year is focused on discovering essential learning, particularly in French and mathematics.
The activities offered are both fun and educational, promoting the overall development of the child.
The educational approach emphasises the structuring of basic academic foundations while stimulating students' curiosity and creativity.
Mathematics (Singapore method):
- The students learn to count up to 20, thus gaining an initial understanding of numbers and their written forms.
- They practise recognising digits and counting with collections of objects.
- Activities help them grasp the first concepts of addition and subtraction through hands-on and visual games.
- They explore simple geometric shapes (circle, square, triangle) and begin identifying them in their environment.
- Measurement, using simple tools, is introduced, as well as concepts of size and comparison.
- Students are also encouraged to solve simple problems to develop their logic and reasoning skills.
French (Fransya method):
- The learning of French focuses on reading and writing, with specific work on the alphabet and letter recognition.
- Students practise writing in print, learning to form letters and create simple words.
- Phonology plays an important role, with exercises on sounds and syllables to support fluent reading.
- They begin combining syllables to form words and understanding their structure.
- Oral expression activities, such as role-playing or storytelling, are offered to develop their vocabulary and self-confidence.
- The first elements of grammar are introduced, particularly the use of articles and pronouns.
Languages:
- 30% of the programme is taught in English.
- 1 hour of Mandarin (optional) per week.
